    Summary:
  • EVM Compatibility will bring several benefits like enabling easier adoption and enabling developers to deploy smart contacts on Zilliqa.

Zilliqa, the permissionless blockchain network, has launched its EVM-compatible mainnet on Tuesday, April 25 at 08:00 UTC. The move is significant since it allows ZIL coins to be moved freely between Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) dApps and wallets like MetaMask, and it also makes Solidity programmes fully compatible. Zilliqa paves the way for enhanced usability, functionality, and creativity by welcoming EVM dApps into its ecosystem.

The fruits of EVM compatibility

Zilliqa’s dApps written in Solidity and other EVM-compatible languages will function normally on the Zilliqa network thanks to the addition of EVM support. Users will also be able to send and receive ZIL using common EVM wallets like MetaMask. Using developer-friendly tools like Hardhat and Truffle, this update enables experimentation with deploying EVM smart contracts on the Zilliqa mainnet.

According to the team at Zilliqa, the network has achieved to a great extent,  full native compatibility with EVM. Users of wallets like MetaMask will not need to convert ZIL tokens or worry about address space changes thanks to the native implementation. The same MetaMask configurations used with other chains will function with this initial full EVM compatibility release. They can easily trade native ZILs with one another after transferring their holdings from Zilliqa to Metamask.
Because this is a thorough and comprehensive implementation of EVM compatibility with all of the APIs, the vast majority of dApps will not need any kind of adjustment at all. In the future, full interoperability between the Scilla and Solidity smart contract standards will be added to the EVM compatibility list. This feature will debut on the Zilliqa testnet before making its way to the mainnet. Incentives for deploying DeFi services and facilitating uptake are both ushered in by the EVM compatibility.
Please be aware that the Zilliqa network may be unavailable for up to 24 hours following the deployment of the update. During this brief period, the network will not execute any transactions in order to facilitate the upgrading process.
