Worldcoin Partners With Okta to Roll Out Blockchain ID Project, World ID

    Summary:
  • World ID is a blockchain identity project by Worldcoin, a brainchild of Open AI founder Sam Altman, and it will first launch in Berlin.

Sam Altman’s Worldcoin is introducing its identity system, World ID, in Germany through an integration with Okta. Sign in with Worldcoin is being implemented for the first time on such a large scale with the Auth0 integration. Sign in with Worldcoin can now be easily supported by the thousands of apps that use Auth0 thanks to the integration.

How Worldcoin is transforming data integrity

World ID is the identity mechanism for Worldcoin, and it employs biometrics and zero-knowledge proofs to ensure that a user is a real person. Sign in with Worldcoin can now be easily supported by the thousands of apps that use Auth0 thanks to the integration. By connecting with Okta, developers need only flip a switch and make a few tweaks to their code in order to make Worldcoin accessible in thousands of applications.

For Worldcoin protocol verification, individuals must have their irises scanned at one of the Orbs, which can be found in specific locations around the globe. Orbs employ artificial intelligence to scan users’ irises and generate secret codes that can be used as cryptographic IDs. Biometric data is converted into an ID very instantly, and the resulting digital key is kept on the user’s device. Notably, the data collected throughout the process is not saved on the Orb by default.

Users have the option of having their data deleted, but if they do so, it will be encrypted and utilised to make the models more accurate and inclusive. When a user signs in with Worldcoin, their device generates a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) attesting their “proof of personhood” without disclosing any extraneous data.

According to World ID, its system offers greater privacy than other sign-in options like Google. This is because the protocol gives users the privacy guarantees behind the scenes, ensuring that their data is secure. World ID will first launch in Berlin, Germany before rolling out elsewhere.
