  • An EasyA x Polkadot Harvard hackathon saw more than 300 hand-picked developers launch 55 games, with a $20,000 prize pool.

EasyA, one of the world’s most popular Web3 apps, has reported a number of major milestones as they onboard blockchain developers to the Polkadot ecosystem. EasyA’s two Polkadot hackathons this summer attracted nearly 1,000 developers and incubated 111 startups. Now, following in the footsteps of EasyA alumni who’ve founded startups valued at over $2.5 billion, these teams are seeking to raise further funding to take their startups to the next level.

EasyA makes it easier than ever for developers to learn core Web3 skills and then use these skills to launch fully-fledged startups at their world-famous EasyA hackathons in leading cities globally.. Through their award-winning mobile app (they’ve won Apple’s App of the Day award and many others), EasyA’s making it easier for developers to take their first steps in Web3, join established blockchain projects, and launch their own startups.

At its recent EasyA x Polkadot hackathon in London, more than 400 developers were selected to take part and 56 startups were launched. Hosted as part of their #180DaysofPolkadot campaign, the event formed part of a series of global EasyA hackathons that showcase the opportunities available to developers within the fast-growing Polkadot ecosystem.

Winning startups launched at the London hackathon included a solution for bringing Farcaster to Polkadot, enabling Polkadot users to create their own custom Farcaster frames. Paxmata, a startup making it easier for real estate developers to manage construction projects through onchain milestones, also received an award. Third place went to Paperbaum, a custom parachain for secure academic paper publishing, authorship verification, and efficient paper linking using IPFS and NLP. Now, these winners are continuing to build their startups as they go on to raise funding from top VCs.

Exactly one week after, EasyA hosted their second Polkadot hackathon of the summer at Harvard University, where they achieved a series of further milestones. The EasyA x Polkadot Harvard hackathon saw more than 300 hand-picked developers launch 55 games, with the best teams sharing a further $20,000 prize pool. Teams were tasked with building race-car games on Polkadot and leveraging NFTs on Unique Network’s parachain. In keeping with their racing theme, EasyA invited World-famous INDY500 racer Conor Daly to inspire the developers and show them what makes the ultimate race-car game.

Over 100,000 developers have now learnt about Polkadot on the EasyA app and nearly 1,000 more have launched their startups at EasyA x Polkadot hackathons this year alone.  In the process, EasyA has empowered developers to enter the industry in record numbers and drive developer activity on Polkadot to new highs.
