    Summary:
  • Web3 Foundation is partnering with edX to promote access to blockchain education and the Polkadot ecosystem. We tell you about the program.

The Web3 Foundation has collaborated with edX, the leading online learning platform from 2U, Inc., to create Web3X, a platform that will equip users with a solid foundation for blockchain technology and the Polkadot platform. Beginning with a general introduction to blockchain technology, this four-part series then narrows its focus to the Polkadot blockchain in particular. In the later classes, users will learn about the Substrate SDK and the Rust programming language.

The Web3 Foundation-edX blockchain course breakdown

This introductory course, “Introduction to Blockchain and Web3,” is designed for students from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds. It provides background on blockchain technology, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Web3 and defines crucial terms. As a first step, it instils the background information and cultivates the abilities necessary to grasp and experiment with new blockchain and Web3 technologies. It then proceeds to study the underlying technology that makes blockchains possible.

The second course, titled “Introduction to Polkadot,” is an in-depth analysis of the platform and all the components that make it work. It provides several hands-on activities to help students become familiar with the necessary jargon and learn how to navigate the Polkadot network. They later delve deeper into Polkadot’s networking capabilities and principles of shared security, interoperability, cryptography, and consensus. Activities. The Web3 Foundation‘s Technical Education group developed the course.

For the past ten years, edX has provided tens of millions of students with free online access to high-quality courses taught by faculty from some of the world’s best universities and institutions through its website, edX.org. The goal of the collaboration with Web3 Foundation is to broaden students’ options for learning and development in high-demand industries like blockchain. In the future, the two organizations hope to broaden the scope of their training program.

Bertrand Perez, CEO of Web3 Foundation, said: “Part of this ongoing process is to launch partnerships with established educators, and we are confident that edX has the right attributes to form a valuable long-term collaboration with Web3 Foundation.”
