    Summary:
  • Upland is partnering with UNICEF to train youth aged between 18-24 on web3 tech, with opportunities for sustainable earning.

UNICEF Brazil and Upland, a web3 platform for the metaverse mapped to the real world, have established a long-term partnership. This partnership seeks to address the critical shortage of youth-friendly educational, vocational, and employment options by creating a new social initiative and Web3 academy. The program will kick off this Christmas season with a holiday NFT sale, with all revenues going to youth education organizations.

What are the deliverables?

UNICEF’s One Million Opportunities (1MiO) initiative uses Upland to power and curate its educational programming. The (1MiO) program is being spearheaded by UNICEF Brazil and is a multisectoral linkage involving the private sector, governments, civil society, and youth. Participants will acquire the knowledge and abilities necessary to make meaningful contributions to the emerging virtual community-driven environment of virtual worlds. Through web3, thousands of Brazilians aged 18 to 24 will have access to secondary education and vocational training.

Five distinct competencies will be taught to the participants. First, they will be taught the basics of web3, blockchain, smart contracts, and the metaverse. Second, they’ll learn how to be successful business owners. A third benefit is that they will learn about new career paths in the web3 industry and be equipped with the skills necessary to find employment opportunities in the metaverse economy. Students will also gain transferable skills and practical applications of what they’ve learned. Finally, they’ll find out what it takes to make a living in the Upland metaverse, including using its resources and tools like minting.

Two UNICEF-branded structures will be built on Rio de Janeiro properties on the Upland platform to produce outdoor decor models for sale in the UNICEF Showroom, which supporters can virtually visit. The items, which feature gamified experiences just in time for the holiday season, are a great way to show support for UNICEF and get the community involved in fundraising without breaking a sweat.
