Unioverse, the pioneering sci-fi franchise and game creation platform, has announced a series of major developments, including the pre-alpha release of its second game Hoverdrome.
To coincide with the release, Unioverse has also organized a tournament with spoils represented by $15,000 USDC, 300,000 $UNIO prize pool and more. The platform’s latest and most coveted NFT to date is also set for release.
Hoverdrome, which is available in pre-alpha on Windows PC, is an action-packed AAA experience that blends elements of Mario Kart and Rocket League. Notably, the game utilizes interoperable game NFTs that enable players to use their assets across multiple games within the Unioverse.
“Hoverdrome is an exhilarating addition to the Unioverse, combining the best elements of racing and competitive action,” said Tony Harman, Founder and CEO of Random Games, the company behind the Unioverse. “We are thrilled to share this pre-alpha version with our community and look forward to their feedback.”
The special tournament arranged to commemorate the game launch has been sponsored by Polygon, and though it is free to enter, participants must verify their Windows PC meets the minimum requirements. The user-friendly event will run from August 26 to August 31 for Open Qualifiers, with live finals set for August 31. Live commentary during the finals will be provided by Tanner_Metro and Orbital_Casting, two highly talented casters in collaboration with Community Gaming.
The introduction of Unioverse’s third hero follows its predecessors Krishah and Reyu. A formidable space sheriff named Tor Gret, he represents the most treasured NFT in the Unioverse to date. Minted out 5,000 units with partner Magic Eden on August 6, Tor Gret granted immediate access to games, unique ecosystem benefits, and early access to significant events – particularly for holders of ‘Epic’ or ‘Legendary’ Heroes.
“The integration of USDC, UNIO prizes and free-to-enter tournaments highlight our commitment to delivering value to our community,” said Wyeth Ridgway, Founder and CTO of Random Games.
“Our goal has always been to create meaningful and valuable experiences for players. The Tor Gret minting event also exemplifies this by offering substantial benefits and early access opportunities that enhance the Unioverse experience.”
“Tor Gret is a game-changer in the Unioverse, not just as a character but what he brings to our community,” added Harman. “The minting event was a major step forward for us, and we are excited to see how our players will use and appreciate this unique hero.”
Hoverdrome, the first of many multiplayer games in the Unioverse franchise, showcases the potential for future expansions and community engagement in the fast-growing web3 gaming space, letting players earn rare achievements for their heroes and hoverbikes and enjoy the freedom to build their own levels and bikes. Gamers can download the pre-alpha version of the game from the Unioverse website.
