    Summary:
  • With the new feature, users will be able to send transactions with accompanying messages that will not be available for inspection.

The Open Network (TON) has integrated messenger encryption, according to a press release from the TON Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to advance TON among developers and fans. With this new innovation, customers can be assured that their personal information will be safe whenever they include a text message with a financial transaction.

A secure, personalized message with every transaction

End-to-end encryption ensures that only the sender and the recipient can see the communication, making this a welcome addition to TON’s already secure platform. To further broaden the service’s availability, the network charge for sending an encrypted message through TON is only approximately 0.006 Toncoin (TON) per transaction.

Anatoly Makosov, a Core developer at TON Foundation said: “Even in the event of an apocalypse and the failure of conventional messenger servers, you will retain the ability to send messages via the decentralized TON blockchain.”

TON users have always had the option of including a personalised message when giving Toncoin, Jettons, or NFTs to one another, such as “for air ticket” or “happy birthday.” TON is now among the few blockchains offering full encryption for this popular function, which is absent from the vast majority of other blockchains. With TON’s end-to-end encryption, only the sender and the recipient can see the message, whereas before, everyone could see the message because it was sent along with every transaction.

The layer-1 architecture of TON is designed to scale to a maximum of 2 to the power of 32 workchains, and each of these workchains can be further subdivided into up to 2 to the power of 60 shardchains. It’s fast enough to handle millions of transactions per second.
