Polkadot community coin $PINK has announced its public launch. The memecoin, which has been airdropped to leading Polkadot communities, will go live on March 21.
The total supply of $PINK has been set at 2,300,001,221, the number being a tribute to Polkadot’s RGB color code. $PINK is issued on Polkadot AssetHub. To ensure fair distribution, $PINK has been allocated to leading parachains and communities that are helping to advance the Polkadot ecosystem.
12.5% of the supply has been allocated to parachains, currently 14 teams are eligible. Each parachain can distribute their allocation to users in a manner of their choosing. Moonbeam users will receive the largest parachain airdrop, followed by Bifrost and then Astar.
To bootstrap the awareness of the PINK community, the Game Studio behind the Great Escape built PINKDROP. A casual browser game that introduces users to the Polkadot ecosystem through a series of interactive challenges. Players are required to combine balls representing different parachains in order to grow the size of the ball with the goal of forming the ultimate Polkadot ball.
Players compete to accumulate points and climb the leaderboard. The game continues until one of the balls the player is controlling reaches its upper limit. 15% of the $PINK supply has been reserved for Pinkdrop players, with an additional allocation for those who have completed social tasks such as sharing their highscore. Pinkdrop has proven extremely popular since launching in December. More than 225K game sessions were recorded by 14K unique addresses in the first four weeks.
A smaller airdrop tranche will see 2.5% of the $PINK supply allocated to gaming communities. 6 games participated, 3 Polkadot and 3 non-polkadot games including Shockwaves.ai. With the goal to incentivize the development and adoption of GameFi on Polkadot. Other games that have successfully applied for an allocation include Exiled Racers and Evrloot.
In the coming weeks, a new version of Pinkdrop will be deployed, introducing a league mode with daily tournaments and $PINK rewards to be won. This will further drive adoption of $PINK while demonstrating how the token can be integrated with Polkadot games to incentivize participation.
