The popular strategy game KMON Genesis (previously Kryptomon) has gone free-to-play, following a decision by its maker, Pink Moon Studios. According to the company, changing the name of one of the most popular web3 games from Kryptomon to KMON Genesis will make it easier for new players to join in on the fun.
Players of KMON Genesis can interact with the fascinating KMON universe by breeding, collecting, and trading a wide variety of rare and exotic species. KMON Genesis is one of the first web3 games to provide players with a smooth gaming experience without the need to pre-purchase NFTs, making the game accessible to a wider audience.
Members of the Kryptomon community take on the role of “Trainers,” caring for their own personalised NFT pets. The pets’ genetic code is comprised of 38 random parameters that affect their appearance, personality, and behaviour. When out on an adventure in the real world, Kryptomons can learn new skills, get hurt or hungry, and look out for their trainers. Trainers, in turn, will need to provide for, feed, and develop their Kryptomon partners so that they are strong and ready to fight.
Pink Moon Studios is well-equipped to develop games that seamlessly combine the virtual and real worlds because to the team’s vast knowledge of web3 technologies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and augmented reality (AR) technology. The studio distributes weekly monetary rewards, often $50 in tokens, to players who complete in-game challenges to encourage continued play of KMON Genesis.
To quote Pink Moon Studios’ founder and CEO Umberto Canessa Cerchi: “The introduction of the free-to-play mode is a game-changer, inviting players from all backgrounds to experience the innovative and exciting world we’ve developed, without any financial barriers or web3-related technological hurdles.”
To further improve the gaming experience and provide players with more options for advancement, Pink Moon Studios recently partnered with Playdex to develop special renting services for KMON on-chain assets.
