Bitcoin hashing power marketplace NiceHash has announced the launch of the first firmware designed exclusively for mining on Kaspa network. Its dedicated Kaspa software can increase ASIC performance by up to 20%.

Designed to support fair mining, Kaspa combines low energy consumption with high decentralization and massive scalability. The network’s use of the GhostDAG protocol, which allows multiple blocks to coexist, and unique PoW design have made it a popular choice with solo miners who can now maximize their earnings through utilizing NiceHash firmware.

The Kaspa firmware developed by NiceHash is compatible with the Antminer KS series of ASICs. It improves performance by lowering power consumption while increasing hashrate. Intelligent thermal protection, meanwhile, prevents devices from overheating. The firmware can be used with the Antminer KS5 Pro, KS5, KS3 (9.4 TH), and KS3 (8.3 TH).

Because most Kaspa Antminer models use CVITech control boards, which do not support persistent custom firmware installations, NiceHash has engineered a solution to this challenge. To install its Kaspa firmware, users must first connect Cracker Card, a hardware add-on that is attached to the CVITech control board. Once connected, it enables over-the-air installation of custom NiceHash firmware for Kaspa on ASIC machines using stock firmware.

Miners who utilize NiceHash Firmware for Kaspa are subject to a dynamic fee ranging from 1-4% according to the overclock level of their device. This ensures a fair pricing structure for Kaspa miners, who can use the dedicated Kaspa firmware to mine through NiceHash pools.

NiceHash has developed detailed guides for Kaspa miners to assist them with upgrading their ASICs by adding the custom firmware. Its release follows the launch of NiceHash Firmware, designed for Bitcoin miners to drive greater efficiency from ASIC devices and increase revenue. Its first non-Bitcoin specific firmware release, the Kaspa solution developed by NiceHash provides added incentives for miners to utilize its pools while benefiting from improved ASIC performance.
