    Summary:
  • Modhaus, a web3 project promoting Korean culture, has completed the first NFT-based voting for a pop competition. We discuss why it matters.

Modhaus, the NFT-based Web3 Metaverse project, has successfully implemented the Gravity voting system to spread Korean pop culture over the world. This procedure will determine the initial lineup for a fan-driven K-Pop band. When it comes to voting for a real artist, tripleS is the first K-Pop group to employ blockchain technology.

A total of 4,417 votes were cast by the 8,000+ NFT holders during the first Gravity of tripleS. Voting took place from September 21st to the 25th and resulted in 4,728 transactions on Polygon. Modhaus‘ use of blockchain technology is part of an effort to increase fans’ influence by making the project more responsive to their needs. It has accomplished the latest milestone in South Korea by utilizing NFT governance, which gives tripleS NFT holders the freedom to select both the subgroups inside tripleS and the members of each subgroup.

Why Modhaus is a trendsetter

Modhaus is an ingenious project with the goal of spreading K-Entertainment over the globe. It highlights innovative concepts for the Metaverse and NFTs.  Hashed’s Unopnd, a research and startup studio, is incubating the company. Western audiences are slowly but surely being exposed to Korean culture thanks to the meteoric rise of Squid Game and other K-Pop acts like BTS and Black Pink.

NFTs and blockchain technology have allowed for bottom-up rather than top-down decision-making in the formation of tripleS. Modhaus’ voting system is different from previous K-Pop votes in that fans can participate by purchasing tripleS NFTs. Fans can cast their votes by exchanging their NFTs for voting tokens, known as COMOs. More than 10,000 COMO were employed throughout the Gravity period.

Two groups, Acid Angel from Asia (AAA) and +(KR)ystal Eyes, had their lineups chosen by popular vote. Whereas KR offers a more “typical” K-Pop experience with powerful sounds and flashy style, AAA introduces an entirely new dance style to the current K-Pop genre. TripleS has only revealed eight of its members so far but will ultimately hold votes for a total of twenty-four.
