    Summary:
  • This year's European Blockchain Convention will be held at a larger venue due to the overwhelming response from exhibitors and sponsors.

The ninth edition of European Blockchain Convention (EBC9) will take place in Barcelona, Spain from October 24-26. It is expected that 5,000 people will attend the event in the Catalan capital, in what will be the largest European Blockchain Convention since the event began in 2018. In an interesting mix of activities, the event will coincide with El Clásico, the popular football faceoff between powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid.

What to expect and how to participate

The conference serves as a platform for attendees to network with one another and learn about the latest developments in the blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset industries. Attendees of the three-day European Blockchain Convention 9 include C-suite executives from Nansen, Fidelity, Fabric Ventures, and Animoca Brands, among others.

Traditional firms like Banco Santander and Volkswagen will also be represented, along with senior officials from leading blockchain companies. Binance Labs and Galaxy Digital executives will also be present.

The decision to hold the event in Barcelona was certainly well-informed. Following the success of the first edition, the event’s organisers reported a surge in interest from potential exhibitors and sponsors. Fira Barcelona, Spain’s largest convention centre, features more room for exhibitors, which is suitable for wider range of topics to be covered, and offering exciting new experiences.

An array of topics, including legal hurdles, CBDCs, privacy, institutionalisation of crypto, DeFi, sustainability, tokenization, and AI’s rise, will be covered at this year’s event. There will also be a Hackathon, which is projected to attract 200+ hackers, 30+ mentors, and 20 teams over the course of 48 hours.

The programme has a 3,000 sqm exhibition area for sponsors and exhibitors in addition to panel talks and workshops spread across three stages. There will also be five different themed networking lounges, a 1-on-1 meeting area, and a “Ask Me Anything” session with speakers. In addition, the second edition of EBC Start-up Awards, an investor meetup, and an art gallery are all on the agenda for EBC9.
